Chiefs vote to overturn deal with Enbridge

A B.C. First Nation group has reversed its support for the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline project; the company says it still has the support of close to half the bands along the corridor. Gitxsan Treaty Society negotiator Elmer Derrik signed the agreement in December, but 36 Gitxsan hereditary chiefs voted to officially reject it during a meeting Tuesday night. Read more...

Maria das Gracas Foster has become the first woman to run one of the world’s top five oil companies after she was officially named the CEO of Rio de Janeiro-based Petrobas. Continental Nickel starts mining in Tanzania

Canadian mineral explorer Continental Nickel Limited is set to begin mining nickel in southern Tanzania following positive exploration results. President of CNI, David Massola said that the drilling which was conducted in December 2011 jointly with IMX Resources Limited of Australia confirmed the presence of Nickel at Ntaka Hill in Nachingwea District.
